Memoirs, Birthdays and Fireworks

So far opinions are varied on my book. When all the votes are in I'll have to figure out what feedback to incorporate and what to let go, but so far it seems like everything I've heard will help me make it a better finished product. At this point, since I've done everything with it that I can, I'm going to let it go and enjoy a memoir-free four day vacation with my family in the Massachusetts Berkshires. We're going to the James Taylor concert at Tanglewood (is it my imagination or is he still hot?), breaking bread with my writing friend John Robison, and seeing my old childhood friends.

Last fall when I had lunch with John I thought I was too fat to post the picture we had taken outside the restaurant afterwards. However, today I am fifty three years old and have decided that I am too mature and wise to worry about such frivolity. On that happy note, here's last year's picture of John and me. I've actually gained about five pounds since then, since I've been pretty inactive due to my most recent hip replacement. And because it's my birthday and I'm now a sage I'm not even going to beat myself up about it.

If we take a picture this year it will have to include my husband Ken and our two sons, and it will be called Tall People. If John's game, look for the photo some time next week.

Happy Fourth of July everyone! May your week be filled with shimmering fountains, flying rainbows and cascading confetti.

Your husband is such a sweetie! Your book is wonderful, and I do think it will help a lot of people. I think it's touching that your hubbie read this as his first sample of your writing. Unlike me, he probably wasn't poking his eyes out and requesting barf bags. I mean that as a compliment, of course.

Thanks gals. Of course I'll have my laptop with me. Can't go totally cold turkey. Hope you both have a great week.

I'm so happy that you've gotten good feedback. Really, I'm thrilled to even read this post, even though I haven't been a part. A four-day vacation must feel crazy -- without worrying about your book, etc.

As far as you being fat, I otta B-slap ya, girlie! But, you know, I do the same darned thing. It always takes me a while to go back and look at my old fotos b4 I fully appreciate them.

John's website sure has changed - in a good way and he made it to the best sellers list. I'm not sure if I knew that or not. Always knew he would, so it wasn't too big of a shock. Neat that you get to see him again.

Hope you're doing well. Hope to hear from you in the near future. *lovies*

B-day? Did I miss that? I just thought you were alluding to the fact that "today" you're 53 and this is the way things are. I'm such a geek. Am I right? I should jot this date down! *woot woot* Happy Happy.

HI Chuck, I actually wrote this post on my birthday. I thought 53 might be bad but when I got there it was like "who cares." The older I get the more relaxed I get about the whole age thing. And that's good, considering I have no choice about it!
